Alright well the new Top 25 is out, and honestly it surprised me ALOT. Teams this year seem to be jumping up the ranks tremendously when they beat a ranked team, or they will not move at all if the win, but keep it close. Herm Edwards even said, "You play to win the game." When by alot or win by a little you still win the game, but style points is absolutely being taking into affect in some cases.
Top 25
1. Alabama (2-0) The SEC West is strong this year so Bama will not have a cake walk to the championship game. I thought they had what it takes to go undefeated in the beginning of the season, and after seeing Trent Richardson become better than Mark Ingram they will make it to the title game.
Projected Record: 13-0
2. Ohio State (2-0) Ohio State had troubles against Miami at some points, but showed they are quite the more dominant team. Every year it seems someone from the Big 10 sneaks up on Ohio State, and I think it will be the same this year. Iowa or Wisconsin will get a win against the Buckeyes, but they will still make it to a BCS game.
Projected Record: 11-1
3. Boise State (1-0) Boise State's win against VT is diminished a little bit, but the last time VT went 0-2 they went to the Sugar Bowl and won. So I'm not sure it is quite diminished just yet. By the end of the year VT will be back up, and might go to a BCS game. Boise will have maybe a few close games this year (Oregon State and some WAC team), but they will finish undefeated and still go to the national title game.
Projected Record: 12-0
4. TCU (2-0) Interesting case for TCU. The only game I had them losing this year in the beginning of the season, was to Oregon State in week 1. Well they won, so do they go undefeated? Honestly looking at the rest of the schedule, I think they will. They have a tough game against Utah further down on their schedule, but I think they will pull it off. The question now is, if they go undefeated and Boise goes undefeated, who will go into the title game? CONTROVERSARY
Projected Record: 12-0
5. Oregon (2-0) Was really disappointed in Oregon in the first half against Tennessee, but then showed me the team that I thought they were. The team with the best offensive attack in the nation. I had Oregon losing one game this year to Oregon State in the last game of the year, but that was after I thought State would beat TCU also. Looking at the rest of Oregon's schedule I think they will have trouble against Stanford and Oregon State. I want to say they slip up to one of those teams, but until that day comes I say they ALSO go undefeated.
Projected Record: 12-0
6. Texas (2-0) At the beginning of the year, I had Texas going 10-2 with two loses in conference games. I am going to stick with my projection for them just because of the way they played against their first two opponents. Oklahoma and Texas A&M will get a piece of the Longhorns this year, next year though. I might be saying Texas all day.
Projected Record: 10-2
7. Oklahoma (2-0) My Big 12 pick at the beginning of the year struggled during their first game, then everyone thought their offense wasn't good at all, then they destroyed Florida State. I'm pretty sure Oklahoma's offense and defense is top notch. I had them going 12-1 at the beginnin of the year and that's what I'm sticking with.
Projected Record: 12-1
8. Nebraska (2-0) I am not sold on Nebraska, they are a really good team, but there just isn't anything this year they have that I'm in awe of. They will win the Big 12 North hands down, but I think two loses are in their schedule with Texas and Texas A&M. This might change but right now they are a two loss regular season team.
Projected Record: 10-3
9. Iowa (2-0) They have a tough strech of games. Four out of the next five games they are playing a ranked team, and they are for sure to slip up somewhere. I had them going 11-1 at the beginning of the season, but I'm saying they go 10-2 now. I am more selled on Wisconsin than them right now in the Big 10. Iowa will beat Wisconsin though, weird right? But will lose to Michigan and Ohio State.
Projected Record: 10-2
10. Florida (2-0) Was not impressed at all during Florida's first one and a half games to start off the year, but it seems they got things going against the Bulls in the 2nd half. I had Florida going 11-1 in the regular season, and I am going to stay with that projected. Alambama gets them twice.
Projected Record: 11-2
11. Wisconsin (2-0) I have the Badgers finish the Big 10 11-1. I had them splitting in a three-way tie in the beginning of the season, but now they will actually WIN the Big 10. OSU will still be higher ranked than the Badgers, but Wisconsin will get the trophy. Wisconsin beats OSU, beats Michigan, beats Iowa, but loses Michigan State or Purdue. Haven't decided it yet.
Projected Record: 11-1
12. Arkansas (2-0) Arkansas might have one of the best QB's in the SEC, but as a team I don't know if the Hogs have what it takes to pull of a historic season. They will have a good season, one of the best in a while, but BCS game no. The Razorbacks have 4 loses on their schedule: Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, and LSU.
Projected Record: 8-4
13. South Carolina (2-0) Going to school at South Carolina and going to the first two games, I witnessed that Marcus Lattimore is a work horse. South Carolina main weapon on offense is Lattimore ex. Georgia game. I'm not sold about the Cocks though as a whole, they will have a pretty good season. Just not completely sold on them just yet. Beat Auburn and I might project a 10 win season, but until then I see 4 loses.
Projected Record: 8-4
14. Utah (2-0) At the beginning of the season I had Utah going 9-3 with loses against PITT, Air Force, and TCU. Now I have the Utes going 11-1. I really would love to see the Academy beat Utah and finish 2nd in the MWC, but now I think Utah is just TOO good for them
Projected Record: 11-1
15. LSU (2-0) Previously I had the Tigers finishing 3rd in the SEC West, but I have a feeling Les Miles will get this team on the right track. I have the Tigers losing to the Gators and Tide.
Projected Record: 10-2
16. Auburn (2-0) LSU and Auburn are flip-flopped now based on their performances in the first two weeks of the year. The Auburn Tigers also have two losses on their schdule in my opinion, LSU and Bama. War Eagle is on the rise though, watch out in the upcoming years.
Projected Record: 10-2
17. Miami(FL) (1-1) The highest ranked team with one loss in the Hurricanes. They had a pretty good performance against Ohio State, and proved they have a decent team this year. I think the Hurriances have two more losses on their schedule. North Carolina and Virginia Tech. North Carolina will eventually get a lot of people back on their team to be a contender for the ACC title, and VT is still legit even though they didn't focus against James Madison at all.
Projected Record: 9-3
18. USC (2-0) The Trojans can't go to a bowl game this year, but still can have a pretty good year. I have the Trojans losing three games: Oregon, Stanford, and Oregon State. Based on their first two game, the Trojans have a LOT to work on to get back where they once were.
Projected Record: 9-3
19. Stanford (2-0) The Cardinals has a very impressive win against UCLA, they blanked the Bruins and Andrew Luck proved to be the BEST QB in the PAC 10. I have the Cardinals losing three games like USC to Oregon, Notre Dame, and California. Stanford has another impressive year without Gerhart.
Projected Record: 9-3
20. Michigan (2-0) Shoelace might be the most exciting player in college football this year. The boy is nasty. The Wolverines will only lose three games this year with a key win against Iowa and losing to OSU, Wisconsin, and Penn St. I believe that Michigan is coming back folks. Just wait and watch for the excitement.
Projected Record: 9-3
21. West Virginia (2-0) The Mountaineers kept it close again against Marshall. Every year it is a good game, and WVU pulls it out in the end. Since my previous Big East is not looking that hot this year. I say WVU goes 10-2 losing to LSU and Pittsburgh.
Projected Record: 10-2
22. Penn State (2-0) The Nittany Lions got a taste of the best team in the country last week and did not get beat THAT bad with a true freshman QB. The Lions will finish 9-3 with loses to Iowa and Ohio State. Penn State and Michigan might battle it out in a few years for the Big 10 title. Wouldn't that be pretty cool?
Projected Record: 9-3
23. Houston (2-0) I had the Cougars going undefeated in the beginning of the season, but I say they lose one game this year against Mississippi State. Houston will run the table in the C-USA, but don't really have a BIG non-conference schedule to make them a really good team.
Projected Record: 12-1
24. Arizona (2-0) Two Pac-10 teams round-out the Top 25. The Wildcats have only allowed 8 points in their first two games, but have also played Toledo and the Citadel. I have the Wildcats losing 5 games this season to Iowa, Oregon State, Stanford, USC, and Oregon. Arizona is a pretty good team, but not enough to contend for a Pac-10 title.
Projected Record: 7-5
25. Oregon State (0-1) The Beavers. They played really well in the first half against TCU, and still have a really strong offense. The Beavers have 3 more losses on their schedule with Boise State, Oregon, and Stanford. By the end of the year they will have the toughest schedule. Eventually a #2, #3, and #4 possibly.
Projected Record: 8-4
