Week 2 Review

A great start to a very interesting college football season. Many FBS schools have been showing the Div 1A boys who can play and who can hang with the big boys. I can't wait to follow the rest of the season and see who comes out on top in the end.

Best Team
Alabama: Bama was the best team in Week 2 absolutely. They demolished Penn St and shut them down for most of the game. Trent Richardson is a monster and might have taken Mark Ingram's spot, if I was Saban I would use the 1-2 combination alot. First down- Richardson. Under 5 yards: Mark Ingram. No one will be able to stop it the whole game. My previous best team pick Oregon struggled in the first hald, but then demolished the Vols.

Most Impressive
California and Oklahoma: I picked both teams to win their games this week, but both teams played VERY well. I thought the Cal and Colorado game was going to be WAY closer then it turned out to be. The Golden Bears' offense was really really good, and their defense was impressive also holding the Buffalos to only one touchdown in the 3rd quarter. I thought the Sooners were going to win by a couple of touchdowns, but had no idea they would run away with it in the first half. Oklahoma looks like a really really good team and might be one of the Top 5 teams in the nation. The offense in absolutely Top 5 and the defense is attacking and physical.

Worst Team
Virginia Tech: A really obvious one by their performance against James Madison. VT played extremely well against Boise State, and almost cam out with a win that would have shot them possibly in the Top 5. You could tell they were let down during the game saturday, but they let their emotions get to them TOO much. If they want to save their season, they are going to have to man up and play like they did against Boise State. They still have a chance to win the ACC, but they need to grow up FAST.

Least Impressive
USC: Southern Cal has ALOT of talent still on their team and a said to be "great" coach in Lane Kiffin. The first week their defense was getting lit up by Hawaii, but they were able to hold the Warriors of in the end. This week their offense could not score on possibly the worst team in the ACC, Virginia. I still have USC having a pretty good season, but if they have another bad week I am going to have to change that prediction in a heart beat.

Most Impressive Conference
Big 12: The only let down in this conference this year was Colorado against California. The Big 12 also had two big wins. Kansas rebounded after their horrible Week 1 performance against a Div 1AA team. They were able to outlast a ranked GT team that has an explosive offense. Another impressive win was Oklahoma over FSU. Not just because they beat them, but how they beat them. They demolished FSU by 30 points in a game that was supposed to be one of the best last week.

Least Impressive Conference
ACC: No question about this one. GT, FSU, VT, Miami. I'll give Miami and FSU a break because they were both playing teams that were better than them. There is no question about Virginia Tech's performance. Pathetic. Georgia Tech's performance was also very bad losing to a Kansas team that will not come close winning the Big 12 North. Some positives for this week for the ACC. UNC didn't lose any more players, Virginia almost beat USC, and the Duke/Wake game had the most combined points out of any two teams.

Heisman Contenders (No Order)
1. Kellen Moore
2. Trent Richardson
3. Case Keenum
4. Terrelle Pryor
5. Denard Robinson

Comments would be very nice, would love to hear what you have to say. What team dissapointed you the most? Or who else should be in the Heisman race?

  1. sup Justin, this Utah posting on here. Pretty impressive stuff on here. I've read everything you write on here. I agree with it too for the most part, except the Heisman candidates. Case Keenum doesn't really deserve to be a candidate because he doesn't play in big conference or a big team. LaMichael James, RB for Oregon, should most deff be in the top ten. Keep up the good work with these post's.

  2. Yea I agree, I put him in for a place holder mostly. I need someone to catch my eye this week. LaMichael James is really good, but Barner taking his 5 potential TD's in the first game hurt him a little.
